What to Do about Alice?

Title:               What to Do about Alice?
Category:       Biography
Grade:            2-5
Author:          Barbara Kerley
Illustrator:      Edwin Fotheringham
Publisher:       Scholastic
Date:               2008
Pages:             32

Summary:
Alice is the President’s daughter.  However, in the early 1900s, women were confined to roles that Alice was unwilling to be bound by.  Irrepressible, high spirited, broadly loved and always into mischief, Alice simultaneously drove her father to distraction and captured the heart of America.

Review:
This book catapults Alice into living color with humor and wit, following not only her antics, but her activities as advisor and goodwill ambassador for father.  A lively book about a real American heroine who has been largely forgotten.  Kerley’s Alice may still capture the imagination of young people today.
